Peacock Middle School P.T.O. 

Minutes of October 3, 2006

 

Ann LaBarge, P.T.O. President, called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Our faculty representatives were Dr. Nickisch, Mrs. Bernahl and Ms. Krefetz.

 

Minutes

 

The minutes of the September 5, 2006 meeting were read.  Karen Kleeman made a motion to approve the minutes, as read, and Olga Cruickshank seconded the motion.  The minutes were approved as read.

 

Treasurer’s Report

 

The Treasurer’s Report was presented, and Dennise McCann made a motion to approve the report. It was seconded by Karen Kleeman, and the report was approved as presented.  Target has generated $560.75, Boxtops $96 and the Fuddruckers Fundraiser $46.64.

 

Principal’s Report

 

Parent/Teacher Conferences are available to all parents.  Those parents who teachers wish to see will be given the first conferences.  On November 8, 2006, the Eighth Grade will attend a Drug Awareness Program given by Dr. Spitler. All parents are welcome to attend. Over 100 people showed up for the Internet Safety Program.  Detective Ragussin will be the police liaison officer for the school.

 

Teachers’ Reports

 

The Eighth Graders will be going to Fermilab on April 18, 2007 and the Holocaust Museum on May 17, 2007.  Ms. Bernahl is working with Dr. Tornatore on the possibility of having author, Sally Walker, as a guest speaker.  Ms. Bernahl would like a New Proxima Projector.  The cost is $2,800 to $3,000.  All funding options will be considered.

 

 Hot Lunch

Hot lunch from Buona went well.  We broke even.

Dances

The next dance is November 3, 2006.  Pizza may be from Tree Guys.

 

Box Tops for Education

 

We are collecting Box Tops for Education.  The container is in the office.  Pick up will be on October 31, 2006.

 

Sweats and Tees

 

We are looking for a new vendor. 

 

Student Directory

 

The student directory is ready for copying.    

  

Announcements

 

We are looking for volunteers to form a nominating committee for next years PTO Board.  There will be vacancies in the president and secretary positions.

 

President Ann LaBarge announced that the next meeting will be held January 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.  The school board will be invited to attend.

 

On October 16, 2006, Lake Park will present a program for parents regarding issues that children face in school.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
