Workshops Given by Peacock Staff:
At the DuPage County School Library Institute Day March 4, 2005 at Fenton
High School a presentation was made by Sandy Bernahl to the middle school
librarians on the results of the Study of Illinois School Libraries. The
attendees broke up into groups to discuss topics related to the study. More

ICE Conference Workshop at Pheasant Run 2003 entitled "Director Dynamics in
Science" paired Mrs. Bernahl and Mrs. Krefetz on integrating technology into
the science curriculum at the middle school level. It explored the use of
Director in the Science curriculum and the concepts of New Literacy as
explored by Dr. William Kist in the classroom.

DuKane County Institute Workshop 2002 was sponsored by the DuPage Library
System under a state "Campfires In Cyberspace" grant. The workshop
entitled, "The Author Adventure" was presented by Mrs. Bernahl and included
collaboration between the Media Center and the Language Arts Department
teachers (Mr. Poremba, Mrs. Agnello, Mrs. Laughlin, Mrs. Leikin) by inviting
historical fiction author Janie Paganopoulos explore the fine art of
historical writing to middle school students. Her visit was paid for by the
Itasca Public Library and was very well received.

ISLMA (Illinois School Library Media Association)Crossing the Threshold Fall
Conference 2000 included a Peacock workshop, "Integrating Technolgy
Seamlessly into the Curriculum" presented by Mrs. Bernahl and a panel
Peacock teachers (Mr. Poremba, Ms. Kaye, Mrs. Krefetz). They used the Big6
research model to expand the vision of traditional literacy to include
Visual, Media, Technical, and Cultural literacies. This included the latest
brain research including the pyramid of learning as new technology trends
are integrated into the curriculum.

ICE Conference 1999 Team 7 teachers (Mr. Poremba, Mr. Peel, Mr. Larsen, Ms.
Kaye)and Mrs. Bernahl presented a workshop on integrating technology and new
software Peacock received into the traditional curriculum and explored what
changes that brought about.

Several Multimedia workshops have been presented to the local chapter of
ICE, ICE Cold, in the past involving the studio, Avid and Director
demonstrations. ICE is a statewide organization of all educators promoting
technology and learning.
