Summary of the School Improvement Plan
Peacock Middle School School School Improvement Plan (SIP)

The purpose of a school improvement plan is to give the school a direction and basis for improvement. School improvement is not a destination, but rather and endless journey striving to constantly better the school. The school improvement plan is not an end product but rather a starting point for improvement. It must be periodically updated, improved, and modified to meet the changing conditions and needs of the school community.

As a result of the plan several areas for improvement were identified. These areas include:

  • Additional opinion surveys directed at students and staff of our school;
  • A more comprehensive set of learning outcomes in Language Arts/Reading that are aligned to the State of Illinois Standards for Learning;
  • A textbook adoption process to culminate in a math textbook recommendation;
  • Improved technology integration into grade level curriculum;
  • Effective application of an engaged learner model in all classrooms;
  • Improved school/home communication.

In order to plan a direction forward, it is first necessary to determine where the school is and where it has been. This provides us with a baseline of data for future improvements. In our plan we have included previous test results from IGAP/ISAT and the Stanford Achievement Test. We plan on continuing to use these instruments in the future as well as expand the use of alternative assessments that will provide us with a more comprehensive profile of our students.
