You are to write a persuasive essay based on the book you have chosen from the list compiled by our media center. http://www.literature-web.net/ offers some ideas. You might want to search online using search words like ”classic literature.”

Things to consider as you write your persuasive essay:

·     Begin with a definition of a classic

·     Introduce the title and author

·     Indicate whether you believe this book is a classic

·     Apply the criteria of a classic to your novel

·     Support your ideas with specific examples from the book

·     Find information on the author

·     End in an appropriate way

·     Write a strong last sentence

I will use the persuasive writing rubric developed by the state of Illinois. TAG students should try to exceed state standards in all areas.
