Through the instructional knowledge of our staff and direction from our outstanding School Board members, Itasca School District #10 continues to provide excellent education to our youth.   For the upcoming school year, the Vision Statement for Itasca School District provides a focus for serving all of our students as we team together to meet their instructional needs.

For the 2010-2011 school year, the new initiatives include the following:

• identifying a new mathematics series for kindergarten through fifth grade students
• providing transparency with our financial presentations as we seek to develop a 2011-2012 balanced budget
• expanding our district’s communication with the patrons in which we serve through the use of an electronic newsletter
• use of data from student assessment to drive instruction by implementing “Response to Intervention” (RtI) initiative
• continue to support a robust website

As in all prior years, Itasca School District attained Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as measured by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).  The district’s high performing scores have continued to rate over 90 percent of the students attaining the state standards.  With this outstanding accomplishment, the district seeks additional avenues to identify the instructional needs of students, as well as providing delivery of an outstanding curriculum.

Throughout the summer and into the fall of this school year, staff members have been busy preparing their classrooms so as to ensure a strong and eventful school year.  Now that school is underway, teachers have been teaming with their building principals in an effort to analyze students’ assessment data and identify instruction to meet those needs.  The hard work and dedication of our staff members, along with teaming from our children’s families, moves our district into the ranks of excellence.

In our intent to communicate effectively with the community, the Board of Education members meet with each parent organization in the district, as well as offer special meetings for additional platforms.  These meetings offer the opportunity for budget, facilities and general input.

Currently, principals are leading their staff members in the development of goals for their buildings.  As we all move forward to ensure that the instructional needs for all students are met, these initiatives assist in the drive towards attaining our professional objectives.
