On behalf of the Itasca School District, I welcome you to our district’s web site.  I am proud to serve Itasca School District as Superintendent of Schools.  Although I began this new role of leadership on July 1^st, 2008, I have served the district as principal and Assistant Superintendent.  In prior districts, I have held positions as Curriculum Director, Personnel Assistant, Vice Principal, reading specialist and a classroom teacher at numerous grade levels.

While I have lived in Illinois since 1986, I am a native of the northwest.  With a Bachelor of Science in education from Rhode Island College, and a Master of Education with an emphasis in reading instruction from University of North Florida, I received my Ph.D. in education from University of Oregon in the area of curriculum and instruction.

In my first year as superintendent, I am continuing with the district’s focus on student achievement.  Once again, Itasca School District has attained high scores in the Illinois assessment program.  Illinois State Board of Education’s test results identify over 92 percent of our students meeting or exceeding the Illinois standards.

Itasca School District has three schools serving approximately 900 students, which are structured within grade level centers.  Raymond Benson Primary School provides academic programs to preschool through second grade level students.  Elmer H. Franzen Intermediate School educates students from third through fifth grade.  F.E. Peacock Middle School serves as our sixth through eighth grade instructional center.

Within our schools, numerous activities are offered that provide a variety of opportunities to learn more about the educational experiences that are offered to your child.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend school functions to take full advantage of interactions with staff and view your child’s accomplishments.

Through effective methods of communication, I will strive to share information about our outstanding school system.  Several methods are available for communicating with District #10 staff members.  All teachers have been provided with voicemail service for those who prefer telephone communication.  In addition, teachers are given e-mail accounts.  Please visit the school section of our web site for more information.
