SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MINUTES
August 27, 2007
The purpose of the special Board of Education meeting was to begin the Superintendent Search Process.
I. President DiCiolla called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. with the following ROLL CALL:

Mrs. DiCiolla led everyone present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
II. Discussion of Superintendent Search Process: Mrs. DiCiolla passed out an outline draft for the Superintendent search process. Mrs. DiCiolla thanked Mrs. Dyra for putting the outline together. The following points of the draft were highlighted:
ü Establishing a Superintendent Search Committee
ü Consideration of hiring a search firm
ü The role of a search firm
ü Committee or Board work
ü Communication plan
ü Negotiating a new Superintendent contract
During discussion, the draft outline was reviewed and Board member’s questions were answered.
Without formal action, the Board agreed that everyone was in support of hiring a search firm.
III. Action Item
A. Establishing a Superintendent Search Committee A Motion was made by Mr. Maier and seconded by Mrs. DiCiolla that the Board of Education Approve Action Memorandum FY08-#06; Establishing a Superintendent Search Committee. The Motion carried on the following ROLL CALL VOTE:

Mrs. DiCiolla nominated Mrs. Dyra, Mr. Maier, and Mrs. DiCiolla as the Superintendent Search Committee. Mrs. Dyra agreed to be the chairperson for the committee. Dr. Cull will contact four search firms and the IASB on Tuesday, August 28th, 2007 to request proposals from each firm. Once received, the proposals will be distributed to the Superintendent Search Committee members. Mr. Maier will check availability of the Village Hall Board Room for Saturday, September 8th, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. for the purpose of the committee to interview each of the search firms. Once the interviews are completed, the committee will recommend one firm. Mrs. Dyra will notify Dr. Cull who will add an Action Item to the September 12th 2007 Board of Education Meeting agenda to vote to hire the search firm. The search committee will then work with the search firm to map out the timeline of the Superintendent search process.
V. Adjournment There being no further business, President DiCiolla adjourned the meeting at 8:35 p.m.
